In the cozy warmth of the Big Red Chair, surrounded by eager children and their curious questions, I find myself spinning tales that weave magic into the air. One particular inquiry always sets my heart aglow: "Do you and Mrs. Claus have children?"
As a seasoned storyteller among Santas, I relish such prompts, for they serve as a gateway to enchanting narratives that add an extra sparkle to our visits. From the mystical allure of the "White Feather Story" to the delightful escapades of Po Po the Elf,
a feature I write and produce for children to listen to online on Amazon and my site for free , storytelling is woven into the very fabric of our Christmas lore.
When a young voice inquires about our children, I playfully deflect with a question of my own: "What adorns the top of your tree?" It's a subtle segway that sets the stage for the tale I'm about to unfurl.
"Once upon a time, when Santa and Mrs. Claus were but youthful sprites, a shadow of melancholy graced Mrs. Claus's gentle features. Unaccustomed to seeing her troubled, I inquired about her thoughts. With a wistful sigh, she confided her longing for children of our own, despite the joy we found in bringing happiness to children around the world."
"As the stars twinkled overhead, I offered a prayer to the heavens, beseeching God to grant our deepest desire. (Here, I tailor the story depending on the child's answer regarding their tree topper—be it a star, angel, or other ornament.) Suddenly, a celestial light bathed our room, (resembling their tree ornament) and a heavenly voice echoed forth, proclaiming that God had heard our plea. Three radiant daughters—Love, Joy, and Peace—were gifted to us, embodying the essence of Christmas and our boundless affection for children."
"And so, children, whenever you spy an angel atop a tree or a star shimmering in the night sky, know that our daughters are spreading their blessings of Love, Joy, and Peace to all who welcome the spirit of Christmas into their hearts."
With twinkling eyes and hearts aglow, parents exchange knowing smiles, while little ones embrace the magic with wide-eyed wonder and tender hugs. And as I finish my story, I am reminded once more of the enduring power of storytelling to ignite imaginations and kindle the spirit of Christmas in us all.
Always take time to create magic. Feel free to use this story in your Santa or Mrs Claus interactions.
